Yes, indeed! Working for yourself is what everyone wants to do.
I'm thinking about opening up an artists co-op here in Melbourne. A gallery where many artists can show their work and participate in the running of the gallery. My thought is that many hands make light work and everyone wins when they work together.
What do you think about the idea? DO you have any suggestions?
I know of several artist who want to show their work there, and it might be fun. Of course, it might be a huge pain in the neck as well, but we'll see.... : )
Have a great day!
girl you do that and ill be with ya!! i want to show off my photography so bad .. of course i have to get prints made matted and framed thats why i dont have it up anywhere already ... rrr
i love the idea alot!!!
go for it!
Miss Anna!
I cannot believe that you do not already have your photography matted and framed and ready to sell! LOL
Anyway, I was thinking that you should include your artist bio with your prints. Nothing fancy, I can help you write it if you want (that's what I do, market artwork) and then that you can include the bio in the cellophane package with each of your signed and catalogued prints. Having your prints signed, numbered and catalogued makes them more valuable to customers.
What do you think? : )
Hannah, I would absolutely totally love to be at that stage...
Yes I would love for you to write for me... that would be tremendous.
and I will be doing limited prints when i do start selling..
I havent gotten the matting printing and framing done yet only becuase of cash flow... I already have enough work in my portfolio to start a small gallery of my own lol..
Plus some of the ok stuff that I wouldnt want to make into large prints I was considering making into post cards and note cards for sale...
I really want to make this happen this year so any help you can give me on the writing and marketing aspects I will take... and use...
I love you
Anna
Hi Anna,
I think we could do this. The note cards is a great idea and maybe even some canvas totes. For libraries and museums, and teachers, kids, moms and old ladies love having something they can carry extra stuff in. : )
You might want to make your prints in various sizes, 5x7, 8x10,11x14 and larger for special orders, and then again you may want to have a special series of just posters. What fun! There are many applications for your photography!
I will check on wholesale pricing of matts, cellophane wraps etc. for you. OK?
Start thinking about points you want to include in your bio. The head and shoulders pic of you that you posted on your blog a few weeks after your your surgery is a great photo, and you may want to have your pic at the top or bottom of your bio.
- Just things to think about.
hannah this is getting exciting... i feel like its actually happening now.. taking on all these projects alone for me is a bit overwhelming sometimes.. and they get pushed down the ladder till i find extra time then i bust butt on them for a couple days and then they get put at the bottom again LOL... Im gonna start a blog post just for this topic so we can keep it organized..
I agree about the totes and stuff.. have you seen my cafe press site...
it has some cool products on it that were ideas of stuff to sell I love the tiles check it out if you have time today...
